Who was a good man?
This blog is titled ‘He was a good man’.
The reason for this comes from an experience and an idea. First, the experience:
As a teenager I visited the grave of my Grandparents with my father. We both sat there for a while in silence reflecting on the lives we had lost, for me my grandparents, for him his parents. After a while my father spoke a few words that have stayed with me ever since. ‘It is all that we, as men, can ask for that at our funeral someone will stand there and say…he was a good man…’. The conversation developed into one about the process of life and its purpose. We discussed how to be the best version of yourself is the most noble purpose one can find in life. Not because it makes you great but because it allows you to raise others up with you. To be a man is one thing, to be a good man is another.
From this an idea was born:
The idea was the to be the best version of myself is the sole goal of life. Physically and mentally, I should push myself and learn to improve constantly. Any way I can do this e.g., academically, spiritually, etc is worthwhile. This blog forms a part of this idea and a part of this process.
The blog serves as a way for me to explore the mysteries and challenges life brings by writing about experiences and ideas I have had. This is to help me think about my own behaviour and others to improve myself. The blog serves as a mixture of bro science, philosophy, and memories.
A separate part of this process if the poetry. Poetry is an evolving love of mine that I am growing fonder of as a release for my emotion. Reading the poetry of others is one thing but I have found that writing my own is a good way of dealing with some of the emotions and experiences I face.
The blog is not designed to be read by others, but should people wish too I hope they find interest, wisdom and inspiration from my musings and life.
To those that decide to explore further and read on I say this…
The future is yours to do with as you wish, you need to decide what that future looks like and make it happen.
You only get one life so spend it with purpose, drive and enjoyment.
Lets get cracking….
